Firefox Addon – Copy Link URL

Copy Link URL is a firefox addon that allows you to select multiple links and copy their URLs to clipboard. The main purpose was for copying multiple Rapidshare links but can really be used for anything.

If you use Firefox and are interested in this addon, head over to the Copy Link URL page.

  1. Finally, something really time saving. Thanks!

  2. #16:

    Firefox 3.5.2
    Copy LInk URL 1.3

    Works fine to me…

    This addon is great!

  3. I have problem:
Archlinux; Firefox 352, Clean profile, Copy LInk URL 1.3 only addon.
    Example page:
    text1
    text2
    text3
I select with mouse “text1 text2 text3″, click right mouth button, choose “Copy selected links”,
and then paste to AbiWord. Result is:
    text1
    text2
    text3
    but must be:
    http://link1.com
    http://link2.com
    http://link3.com

    Please help me.

  4. Very cool !!! ( Muito Ăștil )

  5. @Harald,

The addon is not designed to pick up text links, only links inside hrefs.

  6. Misbehave if selection includes links (by href) and links (only text), it copies only the href-links
    Example (html code):

    http://xyz.com/abc1
    http://xyz.com/...

Selection of both links (abc1 and abc2) only copies the link abc2

  7. Wanted to let you know I appreciate your looking at these.

Even with all the editing of the clipboard I’m having to do at the moment, it is still saving me a little bit of time overall.

    Thanks.

  8. Hi Sophist,

Add link to clipboard is a good suggestion, I will see what I can do.

I guess the addon doesn’t like javascript urls, which makes sense since the javascript is inside the href. I’ll see what I can do.

  9. Question:

By the way, I tried copying two links and they came out like this:
    javascript:popWin(‘http://xyz.abc.com/link1.html’)
    javascript:popWin(‘http://xyz.abc.com/link2.html’)

Why did it include the “javascript:popWin(‘ ” and the ” ‘) ” in addition with each URL? That was completely unexpected.

Is that they way it’s supposed to work? I thought it was supposed to clean up the links so just the clean URLs were placed in the clipboard?

    Regards.

  10. Never mind.

I assumed you could select the links one at a time, and they would be added to the clipboard as you selected each one, thus building up a long list of links in the clipboard.

Apparently, you must select multiple links all at once to make the “Copy Selected Links” show up in the right-click menu.

This makes the program LESS useful, as I can’t selectively copy the links I want. For example, let us say I want to only add 10 links out of 100 links that are on a webpage. If those 10 links aren’t all together in sequence on the webpage, I am forced to copy ALL the links on the page and then edit the copied list to remove the links I didn’t want copied.

    Thanks.

  11. What have I done wrong? I thought this was going to be goof-proof?
What can I do to fix this?

This program will do EXACTLY what I need it to do if I can get it working.

I just installed “Copy Link URL 1.1″ (Updated January 31, 2009) to Firefox 3.0.10 and it isn’t working.

When I right-click on a URL in a web-page the drop-down menu does NOT include a “Copy Selected Links” option as shown on the “Long Description” page . The right-click menu is the same as it was before I installed this program.

In the Firefox menu “Tools>Add-ons>Copy Link URL1.1″ it shows the “Options” button is ‘disabled’ (grayed-out), and both the “Disable” and “Uninstall” buttons are ‘active’. Is that as it should be?

The install seems to have worked but the program is not working right.
There was no indication of any error during installation of the program or restart of Firefox.

    Thank you.

  12. Suggestions for improving:
Send links to a “server” like http://localhost?links=LINKS...
Clicking not on a link (not marked anything) or on the tab, let send the current page address
This would be helpful for lot of download tools that have a http api

    Thanks

  13. Hi Vasya,

I’ve just updated the addon to work with 3.1 beta.

See here; http://www.bluelightdev.com/products/copy-link-url to install version 1.2.

  14. Can you make your addon compatible with 3.1 beta?

    Thanks.

  15. I just had this weird idea of a Firefox addon. Some kind of secret language addon, which, when activated can “translate” all text written in forums and such to a language which wouldn’t be understandable for the regular users, but would appear normal to those with the addon installed.

Basically, this would annoy people extremely, and allows just the people with the addon to talk to each other.

It’s just like encryption which can be changed from readable to unreadable.

What do you think, can you make it? :)

  16. @Mak

Yes it is compatible with v2 and up including the latest. It should also work fine on windows, linux and mac.

  17. Does this work with all versions of Firefox?

  18. Very handy tool! It’s always annoying having to copy links one-by-one into my download manager. Now it’s a lot easier!

    Thanks Bluelight Dev!
